March 23, 2011 - 100% Maria Gomes grown on sandy soil from 35 year old vines hand harvested and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Maria Gomes is also known as Fernão Pires in other parts of Portugal. Bright pale lemon green color. Clean nose, medium intensity, youthful aromas of honeysuckle, peach, apricot, honey and a slight saline character. Dry, medium acidity, medium - alcohol (12% abv), medium body, medium - flavor intensity of nectarine, ripe red apples, quince and fresh mineral core, medium length. Good quality white which is fairly aromatic though more mineral on the palate with a touch of brininess and well balanced. A good value at $12 US retail. Drink now or within 1 year of the vintage.
