July 12, 2011 - Popped and poured. Not cold enough at first. Colour - Gold. Looked like a Spatlese or Auslese Riesling. Nose - Muted at first. Some petrol, honey and grass. Palate - Honey, melon. Prickly, almost as if sparkling. Disappointing at first. Better when we chilled it a bit. For the price, this is a huge letdown. $160CAD is an extraordinary amount to pay for a bottle of wine, and implies an absolutely ethereal experience. This was great, but not extraordinary. It had quite a streak of acid, so would probably have complemented food quite well.
