July 25, 2011 - Typical Southern Okanagan nose of sage with lots of black licorice, burnt coal and aromatic cedar. The dark fruits find themselves in a secondary role with a bit of fig leaf and mint.
The palate is dry. Moderate plus tannins and well balanced acidity give this a framework for the medium to long term. Stone fruits, wet granite and heaps of sage give a pleasant feel but the alcohol is all out of whack and ruins the party. The oak is also a bit obtuse at this stage. The finish showcases a solid tannic body with a bit of nutmeg and cocoa. Like the nose, this is quite sage-y.
While not at its best now, this will definitely reward drinking from 2013 - 2022.
