August 27, 2011 - Nice golden color. Opened a bit too cold and the nose was muted. Once it had heated up a bit it became a lot more interesting. A smell of mushrooms or uncooked pasta with some citrus fruits and we got hints of a weird metallic/blood smell. In the mouth the wine is full bodied with good acidity that holds the wine together during the attack. Through the mid palet to the finish the wine rounds out to a smooth graceful finish. Orange, citrus, even some cherries saying hi. The fruit is there and the initial acidity balances it well. (The metallic smell comes and goes and is a bit off putting. - This could be a side effect of the food paring.) All in all a nice chard but coming from such a special place I would expect a bit more complexity.
