  November 20, 2011 - Took to my wine group dinner. Decanted 4 1/2 hours, (following it with occasional sips because it was impossible not to) then double decanted about three more hours.
  
  Ruby, clear. Beautiful polished nose with expressive layers of violets, black raspberry, expresso, chocolate, raspberry liqueur, cedar. dusting of cocoa powder. Medium and lively body that echoes the nose. This delivered an amazing coherent depth and breadth of flavors robing the palate. It is sophisticated, not bombastic or opulent, but just arresting in its seamless complexity, long etched finish, and utter harmony.

  11/4/13, 3:36 PM - Just curious . . . . In your opinion do you think such a long (and multiple) decanting is needed to maximize this wine's potential? Or any big cab of similar age and pedigree for that matter? I usually try to give at least 2 hours, then consume over the next 2.
