March 7, 2012 - Wife bought this on a whim for a wednesday night sipper. Extremely impressed given the price point. A very full bodied wine with huge concentration, yet very well balanced. For my tastes, the acidity and tannins are in perfect harmony and it has very good length. One can hardly see through this wine even at the rim. The tasting profile is decidedly black fruited with some dark cherry thrown in. There is also a strong component of tobacco in a addition to some beefy goodness. There is the telltale signs of bacon here but of the slightly overcooked variety (pleasing to me). In short, a great effort for the price. A wine with great body and structure with a brooding taste profile and mouthfeel. One of those wines you could "cut with a knife".
