May 21, 2012 - I have been let down by Biale with my last few bottles, so I was pleasantly surprised by this one. Having been a fan of previous vintages of BC, this one stands out. It has the fruit that you would expect from a Zin of this nature, but much more refined. It's not overwhelming, and could easily be paired with red meats and pork. The nose is similar to a Syrah, with some Christmas spices. On the pallet it defiantly tastes of a Zin, but with a more complex, tannic structure. Almost like there is a really good merlot or cab franc mixed in there. Again finishes with fine merlot flavor, with prune and hints of brownie flavoring in the mix. Maybe I opened this at its peak, but I am sure to give Mr. Biale another try after this.
