June 9, 2012 - Ever so slightly bricking rim. A "dark" nose of black cherries, tar, and a touch of leafy, earthiness. The palate is surprisingly sweet up front, with black cherry fruit, before turning more savory and structured on the mid palate, leaving with a long finish. Not the most complex of barolos but very balanced, and downright tasty! Cavallotto is so good for the money. I've been a big fan of the 01 vintage lately and this definitely adds to that list.
