October 4, 2012 - Deep ruby in colour.

Lots of intense black fruit and eucalyptus and minty herbaceous notes on the nose, jumping out of the glass. Must be the Petit Verdot here. Very inticing and welcoming.

The palate does not disappoint. Full bodied and packed with intense, ripe black and red fruits. But this is no fruit bomb. Despite the ripeness and 15% alcohol, there is excellent acidity which makes this wine sing. There is a lovely soft, delicate tannic backbone providing structure. The oaking is very subtle adding subtle cedar wood and liquorice components. Medium plus length and good complexity with chocolate, coffee and herbaceous.

Will improve still for another 2-3 years given the acidity. Very good for the price point, c. £17. A must buy and a great vin de contemplation for those upcoming autumnal nights.

I've not had the 2008, but I just bought a magnum of the 2007, and I've had later vintages.
"...which makes this wine sing" - nice way of describing what I, I think, call "yummy".
