November 11, 2012 - Give this wine some time to decant and watch it grow in the glass. The funk blows off fairly quickly to reveal a typical Altesino sangio nose with bright fruit. Medium+ bodied with nice layers and a long finish.

I really enjoyed this. Fruity cab lovers beware- this is not a wine for you. Pair it with food because despite it's age, there's a surprising amount of teeth coating tannin present.

I drank this with my wife and friends at Tullios in downtown Seattle before seeing Wicked at the Paramount. We also opened an 04 Diamond Creek cab and an 06 Col Solare. Dishes included duck, lamb, pork, and ribeye and this wine showed very well.

Fruit, depth, complexity, and aging potential. It's all there. If you have more in your cellar, feel free to enjoy it now or leave it alone.

A memorable wine and a great evening.
