December 21, 2012 - Very forward and rich nose, not shy at all. Goes back and forth between which components dominate. There is a cool, herbal-mint-menthol aspect, bright lemon and creamy sweet lemonheads, a touch of sweet caramel that combines with the prominent oak, and a spicy brown element as well. The palate isn't quite as complex, with creamy sweet, but bright lemon, caramel, and spice. Finish shows lemon, mint and spice and is moderately long. This is not a subtle wine - it's big, generous and full flavored, verging on rich, but it's has solid structure, acid and stuffing so that's it is not overblown or heavy. Nose - 5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15.5/20.
