December 29, 2012 - Labelled "Domaine Charles et Rémi Jobard". The nose on this one is very faint, and although there are hints of flavours associated with rich, oaky Chardonnay (lemon curd, caramel, butter), they're filed behind notes of lanolin, washing powder and dried flowers. The entry is Riesling-like: fine and chalky, with lemon and lime flavours (and a strong note of volatile acidity). The wine opens up and fills the mouth on the mid-palate, showing hints of popcorn, vanilla, and baked apple, but remaining very acidic and lemony. The finish shows hints of vinegar and seawater.

Overall, the wine shows hints of the sweet, oaky flavours one expects from Meursault, but they are dominated by high levels of acid; this felt like about one third fruit acid (lemon juice) and two thirds volatile acidity (white wine vinegar). A delicious and complex wine, but enjoyment may depend on one's VA sensitivity.
