January 20, 2013 - K and L liquors has been promoting Lanessan so much, I've often wondered if they own stock in this chateau. I bought the 96, the 98, the 00, and the 01. Both the 96 and 98, previously consumed, were a big disappointment. They were both thin and tannic. I was about to give up on Lanessan and assumed I had been duped by K and L, when I opened the 01'. This was a wonderful bottle of wine. It was drinking beautifully and even my wife said it was one of the best bottles I've ever opened for her! This wine had plenty of life in it. Based on how the 98 tasted, I'm not sure I would wait on this wine for 3-4 years. The other vintages seemed like completely different wines. I bought a few more bottles of the 01'to drink in the near term. Would definitely recommend this wine.

1/21/13, 1:39 PM - Dental Jay - I have been disenchanted with the wines from Lanessan as well. I always thought it was a style issue, but I had the '04 recently and I am a changed man. The '04 Lanessan was spectacular. I am having the '01 tonight.

2/8/13, 9:08 AM - I too noticed the push by K&L of the Lanessan but I have enjoyed 2 bottles of he 2001 and so purchased a case for everyday consumption. At $19.99 it is of great value. Thanks for your review.
