Community Tasting Note

  • sandwich Does not like this wine: 85 points

July 19, 2013 - So disappointing. Tasted as part of a mini-vertical with the 90 Lynch Bages. Nothing flawed about the bottle but the nose misleads one to thinking that the wine will show well. Unfortunately there is nothing there. It was thin and faded. Equally dissapointing that the 90 didn't show well either.

7/22/13, 6:30 AM - Bubba - I've had many LB's from the 80s, 90's and 2000s and I have never been disappointed. Provenance is always a concern, but the 89 and 90 came from different sources, so it would be surprising if both were stored poorly. Maybe they are both slightly closed down. Have you had either 89 or 90 recently?

7/22/13, 9:11 AM - to me 89 and 90 are arguably the LB vintages ever...last confirmation of that view was about a year ago...i will look for an excuse to open another bottle soon though as I would be heartbroken if my coveted inventory had faded so quickly...also of note is that most of the wine I intend to store for decades is in magnum form, which i generally find has less variability than 750mls
