Community Tasting Note

  • GoBlue2002 Likes this wine: 90 points

August 22, 2013 - This bottle seemed slightly better integrated than the last, but it seems hit or miss with the oak, which became more noticeable the longer we drank. My wife preferred this more than I -- low fruit, most of it citrus.

8/22/13, 6:48 PM - bummer. I am definitely one who dislikes the citrus heavy oaked chardonnay. I bought in to the New World (yeah, that makes sense) chardonnay that is very similar to Burgundy. I have heard Hamilton makes good PN, but again that comparison to Burgundy makes me skeptical. Still 90 points is an excellent bottle.

I was actually more impressed with Hamilton Russell's chardonnay than their pinot noir, which I believed to be lacking in flavor and depth. Both the chardonnay and pinot are stylistically somewhere in between Burgundy and Sonoma, with the pinot much closer to Burgundy.
