November 5, 2013 - WOW - the 11th bottle of a case is demonstrably better than the first 10. Beaucoup Margaux nose, and a long finish after warm cherry, cool blueberry, beautifully balanced tannins, acidity, sweet/dry, spices. Tastes like a $250 Bordeaux.

11/5/13, 10:13 PM - Wow OD, you have burned through 11 of your 12? I still have one 750 and a magnum left. I bought 15 bottles of the '09. It has all the promise that the 2005 had. I wish I had shown more patience with the '05, but it was so good, so young. It's hard to believe that these were sub $25 bottles. Buy a case of the 2009 if you can find some. Another wine from the Pessac that drinks well above its price line is the '09 or '10 Le Thil Clary Rouge. I really like wines from the Pessac/Leognan region almost as much as I like the really good Margaux. Another wine of promise from Margaux is La Tour De Bessen in '09 or '10. More influenced my Michel roland, as opposed to the other 2 which Stephen Derononcourt consulted on. Chateau Siran is always a good bet for $25 Margaux that drinks well above its price line. Glad others don't have regular access to these treats. The 2005 version of that '00Rauzan-Gassies we had is still just above $25 per bottle, if you can find it.

11/7/13, 6:32 PM - Excellent comments, Dave. The Quality-to-Price-Ratio has gotten so skewed that to find stuff - let us say in the low 90s as far as score - versus high 90s at 10, 20, 40 times the price - is very good indeed.
