November 10, 2013 - This is a rather difficult bottle to score for there is so much going on. And see my related comment. By most people's standards I probably overrate it. Still it is a beautiful Viognier. I get spiced peaches and melon as the main fruit with LOTS of spice. I can give this anywhere from about a 90 to a 93 depending on what I focus on.
The wine looks Blonde colored. The legs are Medium. It tastes like Peach, and Melon. The body is Medium. The wine has Smooth texture. The wine finishes Medium.

11/10/13, 5:45 PM - This is a very interesting wine for me. When Becker released the first Texas Viognier around 2008 I told the owner that Viognier would be the wine that put Texas on the map. Now, about five years later Pedernales won Double Gold in Lyon this past May and Texas took three of the six medals in Viognier (Double Gold, Silver, and Bronze) with France taking three (2 Golds, 1 Silver). I am really proud of the windmaker at Perd (David Kuhlken) for he is making some really nice wines. (Given how bad Texas wines were when I moved back from California this is NOT trivial!) This wine is a beauty that is impossible to get now. Wish I could share!
