11/18/13, 12:47 PM - That is the style. Lopez de Heredia is one of the true old school producers of Rioja. It's definitely a food wine. Did you have it with food?
Their style is meant for aging, although on release it should be ready. It is very different from many Riojas, in particular all of the modern ones out there now. -

11/18/13, 4:27 PM - Usakhegray, thanks for the comment back. I truly appreciate having some discussion about my notes, I enjoy that a lot. On the wine above, yes, we had a bunch of great 'small plate' food around the wine, a good variety. And, I don't drink much Rioja so it's good to have some new knowledge. So it seems this wine, brought by one of my wine friends, should have been aged longer, correct? Would this 2003 need another 10 years to be properly ready?
