July 30, 2013 - Concentrated with a very good balance between acidity and sweetness, But one way or another the wine doesn't strike me as extremely special. It has finesse, but I miss some elegance. Maybe I should have waited until 2020, but I didn't and this was my last bottle so…over and out.

8/28/14, 3:48 PM - seems to me it was unresistable stuff to drink right now... for myself I am a little sad having just emptied my 2008 Scharzhofberger normal btls. Only one magnum left, but this will be kept for sure...

Wise to keep your magnum. Probably best to wait 10 years at least. I am a fan of van Volxem. Visited the domain 2 years ago and Roman is an impressive personality and a great host. I don’t know what it is, but before that note (which dates from 2013) I had a few disappointing bottles from them (and friends thought so as well.) Don’t misunderstand; definitely very good wines, but not what we had hoped for. Anyway, I have a few of this wine of the 2011 vintage and I am looking forward to them, but probably not before 2020.
    Cheers, Zweder.
