Community Tasting Note

  • wineotim wrote: 90 points

December 20, 2013 - Very similar tasting experience to the '05 Jayson I opened in '09. The acidity is too sharp in an unappealing way, and the mid-palate is hollow. Weak nose. Expected better based on other CT tasters. -87pts

Update: This redeemed itself on the second night, it came together nicely, enough for a 90pt score.

12/20/13, 7:46 AM - Sorry to hear that, as I have one I was looking forward to trying after a bit more time in the bottle. For economic reasons, I'm always searching for those rare $40-$50 bottles that drink above their price. More often than not I find CT average scores to be more reliable than the pros (provided multiple users have given scores). Noticed you live in Clearwater . . . I was born in Morton Plant and went to Clearwater High. Live in Palm Harbor now, so haven't made it very far from home.

12/20/13, 10:50 AM - Glad to hear from a "neighbor!" Consider trying a Ridge Cabernet for arguably the best $40 Cab available. I notice you shop at most of the local shops like me....Luekens, Ed's, Total Wine, and B-21. Thanks for your comment, and good luck with your Jayson.

12/20/13, 3:00 PM - Thanks for the recommend on Ridge. Love their zins, and some day I'll pull the trigger on a Monte Bello, but will definitely try to find one of their cabs.
