Community Tasting Note

December 24, 2013 - From the wine society. Still quite a vibrant colour though the cork was very soft and entirely soaked through. The nose was filled with tea, caramelised sugar, some ripe plums, raw tobacco and more. Quite evocative stuff. The palate has a very soft touch of tannin on the tongue but no rough edges, there's still some ripe plum fruit, with a real sweetness to it and mixes with leather, spice and more tabacco and lingers around your mouth for a good while. Lovely stuff.

12/30/13, 11:22 AM - Super note - evocative is just the word! Just opened one of mine from the same wine society parcel - amazing wine. I was lucky enough to have this at a Decanter vertical tasting a few years ago (with 76, 85, 94 & 01, and each vintage paired with cvne vina real), so I bought quite a few of the recent wine society parcel, but have seen some bottle variation.

12/30/13, 12:55 PM - Thanks for the comment, we've had 3 1/2 bottles so far from the wine society lot and have seen some bottle variation, 1 stunning, 1 quite good and 1 almost dead, the half was a risky buy anyway, a 64, but was doa, still well worth trying at the prices they were going for.
