December 25, 2013 - Very similar to the '09 bold, rich and hedonistic.
Dark, opaque and inky purple in color, High viscosity leaves purple stained legs slow to fall.
An enormous nose. this wine needs time to open up...
after allowing to breath rich purple, black and blue fruits of plum, huckleberry, reduced blueberry and blackberry are well seasoned with darker aromas of black licorice, charcoal smoke, tar and spice.
On the palate anise laced plum, blackberry liquor, creme de casis, violets, smoke, espresso, cardamom and clove spice, with hints of balsamic. The acid is moderate as are the fine ripe tannins. the finish is long and loaded with spice can notes and dripping in melted back licorice.
