January 8, 2014 - Wine needed time to open up, I would suggest a decant of at least a couple of hours . It needs it. There was no fireworks, decent lower end Bordeaux. Pair with duck or veal.

1/9/14, 7:15 AM - I think I paid $60 therabouts for it. For me, its lower end, but you could say its mid priced depending on your frame of reference... In contrast to 2000 Pavillion Rouge by Margaux, which has been singing so nicely for a number of years. I think I paid about $90 or $100 for that one. Now that's a great mid level Bordeaux from 2000 to me. Drastic quality difference IMHO.

1/9/14, 9:21 AM - I guess... Brane Cantenac is a 2nd growth in the 1855 classification. Parker scored it 92 in that vintage (PR was 89). The PR, a second wine, is open and ready for business, but the Brane is still developing. FWIW, having had both and having both in the cellar, I prefer the BC.

But my comment was not about one's taste's or preferences. I was looking at the Bordeaux market as a whole. Each to their own. Glad you enjoyed the wine and thanks for posting the note.
