February 23, 2014 - The 1988 Sélection Nicolas Potel Santenay 1er Cru Beaurepaire Collection Bellenum is medium garnet in colour, definitely some noticeable development there. There's a nose of dusty cupboard, dried red fruits and dried red prunes.
The palate enters very softly almost weak perhaps, with red prunes, dried cherries, raspberry candies and a lot of dustiness and dried chinese tea leaves that stretches throughout the wine. Tannins are very resolved and one can tell its acidity is trying to do its best. Overall, a rather dried mouth feel. The wine gains a slight roundness and full flavour (instead of just dryness and acidity) over time, before going down on a quick dive over the hours. Impressive that it has lived till today nonetheless, and its roundness is still pretty inspiring. Medium (-) finish. Drink up!1,198 views
