February 8, 2014 - Year 2 - Super Tasting 2 of 5 - Andrew does Rioja (Langdon Hall, Cambridge, ON): This has really held up well and actually evolved and improved with an hour of air in glass. Pours a really gorgeous shade of ruby going out to only medium bricking on the rim. Darker in colour than I had expected. On first pour the aromas were very focused on sweat and saline. With time nose evolved to show smoke, decaying leaves, red currant, spicebox, brandy macerated cherries, mushroom, tangy red fruits and undergrowth. Palate is fairly pleasurable with integrated tannin and refreshing acid. Finish is medium to long.
