April 17, 2014 - The 2011 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Champlots is medium (-) brilliant gold in color with very good vibrancy there. The wine boasts of a superb intense nose of creaminess, slight vanilla pods, green beans, winter melon with slight floral notes as well. A very integrated nose indeed that one might actually find it hard to 'break down' and 'tear apart'.

On the palate, an entry of crisp green apples welcomes one before a midpalate of nuttiness and creaminess that follows. Pretty structured in style but very firm without being harsh or in anyway unpleasant. A wine that sings its presence but not barging in. There's some slight pecan nutty notes as well with a medium (+) finish of good minerality and salinity. A finish that is almost salivating. Broad mid palate and pretty round as well before drawing back to a focused style with a fun play on the palate profile.

A pretty serious St. Aubin with definitely many years ahead.
