July 14, 2014 - The wine is a deep ruby with light garnet edges. Surprising concentration at the core for a Nebbiolo of this age.

The nose is extremely expressive and hardly showing any age at all. Black cherries, figs, purple plum skin, tobacco and classic rose petal notes all come through. Hardly any leathery aromas or the wet leaf characteristics common in older Barolo.

The palate is bright and fresh but with generous intensity. The tannins have softened considerably but the acid is still firm. Alcohol is in check but detectable and warming. The finnish is endless - impressive even for a wine of this price. Additional nots of smoke and incense on the palate.

Could easily manage another 5 years in bottle - not showing tired at all.
