September 1, 2014 - Wow - truly exceeded our expectations - served it with a simple Salmon Dinner that was accompanied by a nice spicy Tomato and Jalapeño salsa that Chris concocted "on the fly" to accompany the fish. Originally I was afraid the fish and salsa would simply overpower this wine but it did not. The wine:
- lovely honeysuckle yellow hue with relatively thin legs in the glass;
- a mix of white grape, tart pear and green apple with just a hint of oak on the nose;
- on the palate it starts out by showing you the green apple and then the tart pear before whatever sweetness was there become a lovely clean "spicy" light oak aftertaste that simply made sure the wine was not at all modulated by the wild salmon or the jalapeño - tomato salsa we had it with.
Now I wish I had bought more than just this one bottle - a couple of these would be awesome for a Bahamas Fishing Trip dinner ... oh well on to the next vintage and bottle but I will look for more from this producer!781 views
