September 3, 2014 - My first trial with a pre-2004 CnP. I was hoping for something very special, and I think I got a very good wine, but a bit disappointing. Nothing was wrong with the age, but I don't think this wine had the right stuffing from the beginning. The nose was very pleasant showing it grenache and syrah bones. On the palate, it started with bright fruit and was particularly smooth, probably due to its age. However, the finish was the let down of this wine. Where I was expecting it to rise to a crescendo of syrah, it came in rather flat and metallic.

10/24/14, 3:20 PM - I am unaware that syrah is included in this blend, which I think is 95% Grenache and 5% Cinsault.

10/24/14, 7:46 PM - Antipasto may well be correct in citing the blend as without syrah. I have to say I was speaking from taste and not from knowledge, and I am sometimes fooled by taste. At the same time, I did go to the Domaine's website and it lists the 2010 Cuvee de mon Aieul as 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah. There was no specific information on the 1999 vintage.
