October 2, 2014 - Not bad for the price ($11), but certainly past it's prime. It's a shame because I can see how this would have been a great bottle 3 years ago

10/3/14, 6:52 AM - I took a chance on this La Chanson last year and it was still wonderful. I took a chance on it again this year again knowing that it would likely be too late. I guess your note confirmed that. I agree that this was once a fantastic bottle of wine. It was rather expensive at release as well. I also picked up the Les Selection Des Wayfarer, but it will likely be in the same condition.

10/4/14, 7:01 AM - Had the 05 wayfarer last week and can confirm it's on the decline. Still a solid core left, but apple cider and mustiness are taking over. Would open immediately.

10/22/14, 6:07 PM - Drained the Chanson quickly based on these life expectancy concerns, and meant to post a note, but you know how it goes :). Between the two -- wayfarer and chanson -- I found this to be much better. Definitely on the decline, but you can still identify the wine it once was, whereas that was only barely the case with the wayfarer. Wouldn't buy more, but a fun, low-stakes experiment. On a related note, find it interesting that LB would market the wines being obviously past prime if not almost spoiled. Haven't found that to be their style thus far...

Did you get a chance to try the wayfarer?

11/5/14, 5:32 PM - Yea I've been really happy with everything I get there. Anything marginal has been so inexpensive it was worth the risk. I didn't get any of the Wayfarer which seems like it was the right decision.
