  October 14, 2014 - Powerful nose, with primary dark fruit and some development (mushrooms, barnyard) interlaced with lots of oak. Fresh tasting and heavy on the palate, slightly hot and alcoholic, the tannins are kicking hard still at this stage. There's plenty of quality here and the fruit is layered, rich and dense, but perhaps the copious use of oak (100% new?) will require more time to integrate. Certainly no danger of being "over the hill", but I do hope the wine comes together a bit more as it ages; it's a bit too much at present.
