Community Tasting Note

November 20, 2014 - Mourvedre (TTTG blind tasting): Medium-dark ruby, very viscuous (it doesn’t have “legs,” it just paints the inside of the glass). On open, somewhat silky mouthfeel; mouth-coating, with obvious alcohol. Some minerality but mostly hot, ripe, alcohol-infused fruit. Even with 12 hours of air, it just seemed hot and disjointed.

After two days of air, this settled down ever so slightly, but was still primarily very extracted (raisiny) fruit, huge tannin, and a liquor-like finish. No obvious flaws (except serious stylistic biases), but much better wines in the style exist.

    Thanks for the note(s).

6/21/15, 9:01 PM - Thanks for your comment. Your thoughts echo/complement mine. Though I chose not to put "points" on it, I would not have dinged it down to the low 80s, because I think it becomes a stylistic issue. For those looking for "this kind of wine", it's a quite good "this kind of wine" wine, if that make sense.
