December 5, 2014 - Zachy's Wine Auction - Winter 2014 (Smith & Wollensky (48th & 3rd Ave)): Let me first start with a wow - this wine was just fantastic and I am very glad we have three bottles in our cellar and would happily have been in the bidding for the 3 more on offer at the auction yesterday if I hadn't had to step out. Started off much more closed down and less approachable than the Hundred Acre, but only took it maybe 20 minutes to come around. I think it was drinking @ it's peak around an hour after opening although still lots going on 4 hours later. Coffee, cinnamon, currant. The fruit is just a hint of flavor in the overall wine. Great earth. It's so wonderful and beautiful and if I called the Solaia elegant this is another level of that. It was a show-stopper.

Tend to do it when we drink on a holiday and have some time to discuss what score we'd give on the flight back, but in a standard day most of the wines end up unrated. That being said, completely see your 100 points. I haven't given it to a wine yet perhaps because of the whole chasing perfection thing, but this wine was there.
