January 14, 2015 - How can a Mendocino Counoise be so revelatory? All I thought of while drinking this is "why have people been blending minuscule amounts of this for so long". This is deeply colored with a violet core & a light red rim. Explosive nose showing dark berries, meaty notes & loads of floral aromatics. Concentrated & rich, but never heavy. Like a Great Dane on a tightrope. Waves of fresh berries cascade over the palate balanced by beautiful acidic structure. The mid palate seems endless, silky smooth tannins add a fascinating layer. Absolutely beautiful wine.
