March 1, 2015 - Inky ruby with garnet-flame edges. Nose of cassis, tar and gravel, blue fruits. Entry of currants, soy and gravel, with blue fruits, coffee and damp earth - the Pauillac profile is all there. Supple and crisp across the palate with velvety tannins, and a medium to long finish. Decant a must - 2 hours recommended. Day 2 was even better. Makes one wonder about the kinds of glories the Lord Grantham's must enjoy with the grand vin. Never mind that -- a wonderful pedigree is on display here, even in the 3rd label. For those downstairs who seek value, this is enjoyable indeed ;-). 92-93.
