March 27, 2015 - Opened a 750 with those of us receiving multiple bottles. First night, super duper fruit driven and primary. Tasty, but honestly almost "Caymus like" in some ways. Killer nose, but not there... but wait there's more. Day two, where the other two thirds of the wine that slow o'd over 24 hours, it is out-freaking-standing. Really shows a depth that was not even close to there. If anything, I can't peg a date yet to get this effect from bottle age, but a lot of other TRB wines carry a similar young profile (and that's a great thing). The finish on day two (day one is just soft tannins) is really great - mild tannins lay it out to 30ish seconds. Killer wine, but give it time.

    5/20/15, 1:42 PM - Greetings MRMEDOES,
Just great-grin-another wine that needs at this time two days to show its' full potential. And the million dollar question-when can I open it in the morning for guests at dinner that night. I have the same problem with my Cayuse 2010. Laughing-too bad they don't have something that pops out of the cork indicating ready like some cuts of poultry have.

    Thanks for your write-up.

9/6/15, 7:52 AM - Greetings-Contacting you again. I have two bottles. Open first when? 2018 or is that still too early? Dave

9/6/15, 11:50 AM - I think that'd be my initial run if I was looking for a straight pop and pour. That said, two things:
#1 - I have no idea if the '12s will go into a dull period or not. Thus far, nothing tells me they will, but you just never know
#2 - This was amazing with a day of air. You really could do that and likely not have to wait that long!

9/6/15, 1:56 PM - I think I am going to pick door number two-grin. Decant 24 hours. I opened a 2010 Cayuse-felt like I was drinking or trying to drink cactus needles. Sat in the decanter three days. Oh my-oh my-oh my. My wife was in the same room as I was taking a sip and rather loudly exclaiming how on earth can wine be this good-almost mystical. She asked me to leave the room:) So I will be doing your decanting idea this winter. I want to thank you for taking the time to respond to my question. Most helpful and thoughtful of you. /-----Dave
