April 18, 2015 - I drank about 5 cases of the 2nd wine Seigneurs d'Aiguilhe years ago, and now I just cracked open my first case of the first wine with 10 years age. Nose of trufflees, menthol, coffee, chocolate, white pepper. Very new world, thick, pulpous taste profile of dark berries, espresso coffee, granite, dark cherry, Kirschwasser, chocolate. Holding up well after a decade, whereas the 2nd wine would most likely be dead by now. Remains stylistically consistent with Count Neipperg's more expensive BDX offerings, and even has a note of the Mondotte in it. I will not labor the point that this is an excellent BDX value. It has incredible substance and power for such an inexpensive wine, but without the finish and depth of the more expensive wines of the same winemaking team.
