Community Tasting Note

  • StefanAkiko Likes this wine: 95 points

April 26, 2015 - This is now all the things that all great wines want to be, minus the lack of tannic backbone...

Superbly exotic aromas ranging from red fruits to sweaty saddles, a whiff of Brett and wound maintenance.

Medium bodied with only small tannins, M++ acids and extra intensity on the palate. Long, lingering, restrained, perfectly integrated... Now having left adolescence behind.

We only have one btl to go of this vintage and are aiming for 2020, give or take a few years.

Wife: 95p (also tired of supple fruit and watery things.)

    At over-performing Bisi-Basi in Yokohama.

5/5/15, 6:58 PM - Very descriptive note! I'm excited to try my bottle of the '04. 2020 eh? Looking over your notes I see you've tried the '99 and the '98 at that level of maturity (I'd call it late adolescence :) ). Would you say the '04 resembles the '98 or the '99 more?

5/6/15, 3:27 AM - I never think of Musar vintages resembling each other. I find each btl to be a different wine, even from the same vintage. Like the old movie: "Life's like a box of chocolates, you never know which piece you're gonna get."

That's one of the miracles with this wine :-)
    Impossible to become bored!
