August 7, 2015 - (Opened for one hour.) What a beautifully limpid ruby color. The wine has classic Châteauneuf-du-Pape fragrances of ripe plum and cherry, garrigue, pepper, leather and horse sweat. There is also a bit of alcohol (cognac?) on the nose but it actually enhances the overall effect. Medium bodied, it delivers bright, perfectly delineated blackberry and plum flavors with savory undercurrents of soil, funk, mushroom and meat juices. There is also a very lively acidity that conveys real freshness. And despite the olfactory hint, there is no noticeable alcohol in the mid-palate or finish. This very excellent wine is a pleasure to drink alone but even better with food. Consume over the next six to eight years.
