Community Tasting Note

  • -Tim- Likes this wine: 90 points

September 7, 2015 - About 15 months ago, I wrote on CT: "Some herbs, hot spice, red berries and lots of wood. Very enjoyable and great QPR."

Since then, the additional cellar time has improved this fine wine. Less wood and heat, now rather mellow. However, it still needs a few hours decant...

How was your view on this? or maybe I had slightly flawed bottle. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to decant this, so maybe it would have gotten better with time.

9/7/15, 4:12 AM - I agree, Lemmy! However, as I wrote in my tasting note, it is absolutely necessary to decant this wine. The unpleasant nose wears off while decanting; in my case, I decanted 4 hours. In general, I would not recommend to "pop and pour" most French heavy reds, as they need lots of air. Just be careful with old vintages...
