October 28, 2015 - Good, but a little simple (as WIHONG noted) and underwhelming for its brand value and hype. I have to say that at least this vintage is way overpriced at $75. After tasting its 07 and 08 vintages, I am beginning to wonder whether Calon Segur really is the third best Chateau in Saint-Estephe behind Cos d'Estournel and Montrose as perceived by the general public. At a minimum, this Chateau is definitely on my list of gravely overrated Bordeaux (headed by Leoville Poyferre and Pontet Canet).

10/29/15, 6:58 AM - Thanks for your note and rating, IndyBond! Ouch! We definitely do not think it is Cos, but certainly in the league of Montrose et al. If USD75, then we tend to agree a bit expensive...we snookered a case at USD65 per bottle. We have yet to sip thinking too young, but we might just crack open to experience, what would be very sad, the "simple" drop you indicated. Hmmm...concerned! Only good thing is we bought 3 cases, sold 2 when it made sense (or dollars), which paid for all 3...our form of "investment'...so USD65 actually a bit of a misrepresentation as we will be investing when we sip :-)

10/29/15, 7:05 PM - Thanks for your comments. Actually, I did like it (87 is not a bad score for me as you may have noticed from my other reviews). However, I was alarmed when all other people at the table preferred much cheaper wines over this much more heralded one. Anyway, you might as well wait several years before trying this because it seemed still too young to me. After all, you have plenty of mature bottles ready to drink!
