November 7, 2015 - Initially, this bottle seemed to be a little off, with some tartness that dominated the finish. Once it was given some air, it settled down and improved significantly. Strangely though, this bottle seemed a bit flat and closed down. Both dark and red fruits, spice, and tobacco dominated the nose. Lacked a bit of punch in the mid-palate but still quite smooth and well balanced (once the acid presence tailed off). Still noticeable tannic structure. Ultimately, the fresh, lengthy finish became the strongest attribute of the wine. I just picked up 6 bottles, so I'll follow this for the next decade. No rush to open these.

11/9/15, 5:32 PM - I remember that 10 years ago, this wine would hold its own and even outperform some first growths from younger but great vintages such as 89 and 90...This wine was so elegant and amazing and its sad for you to confirm my sentiment about its current status. This is a reminder to all of us to enjoy our wine, in time, not after. Never the less, this is still a great bottle and now it needs to climb over the next hurdle and evolve again. And finally, thank you for the detailed note DBX....

11/21/15, 12:25 PM - Thanks for your nice comment, Purple Tooth. Yes, I have 6 more bottles of this, so I'm hopeful that I will see some improvement with time. I will probably try another bottle soon, hopefully with better results this time. And yes, sometimes we need to learn to enjoy our wines before they start to slip...
