November 17, 2015 - So, this is the second bottle of Cyrus I've ever had in my life so I'm not exactly a Cyrus expert and "groupie" like I know some are. I was told or at least led to believe that this is one of the age-able wines of the northern Sonoma region, but I'm not so sure of that. This wine tonight truly had some tertiary characteristics starting to peek in. Cork was a medium cherry stain upon extraction. Wine was poured to a dark maroon. Nose was blackberry and spice. The wine was served PNP, and the wine was mostly black licorice on the front with some fig and a mild raisin note, and smelled with some mild age. The middle of the wine was dark, a little bit of flint, but this is where mushroom, fig, apricot, and raisin started to crescendo to the middle. The finish was thick and dense, but a little tart and herbaceous. Tannin is here, but on a whole the 2010 vintage has much more tannin and is much more exuberant. Bottle was not purchased directly from the winery but was purchased in a store. This is not a bad wine, but at $50 QPR, I think I'd choose a lot of other things. Drink now. Done by 2018.
