November 19, 2015 - Birthday lunch for Mike and Andrew: A beautiful, fragrant bouquet. Intense, precise and high toned. Complex and multi-layered including aromas of violets, gentle mixed spices, black and red berries, minerals etc, framed by discreet vanillin oak. In the mouth, intense perfection. It achieves that rare combination of real power with lightness of touch that only great wines can. It is very pure and clean and yet the flavour profile is detailed and multi-layered, with a seam of rocky minerality throughout. The serious architecture is disguised in the sleek, seamless package. The acidity is gorgeous and the tannins are superb, ultra-fine grained and suave. It’s only a baby of course. Hold it for as long as you have the patience. I guessed it was a 2002 and then a 1998 La Tâche – it seemed inconceivable it could come from any other Burgundy vineyard. Thanks Mike.

I have also recently had the 2006 DRC Richebourg (but not yet put a note on CT) which was also lovely (if not quite scaling the lofty heights of the La Tache).

    Best, Howard

    11/22/15, 12:58 AM - Hello Howard

    Thanks for you reply.

I also drank 2006 RB last 2 years, it's nice but not impressed. How was it lately ?

I have a very good feeling of 2006 LT but I must have to wait until it's awake. That's a good sign to hear from you.

IMHO, 2006 Burgundy is starting to wake up and will be better at the end of next year.

Now I will making a plan to enjoy it.
    Cheers !!

The Richebourg was very good. However, I can understand your waiting a few more years on the Le Tache.

I agree that some top 2006 Burgs are now just beginning to come out of 'the tunnel' and wake up. They've been behind the '07s but its a better vintage and will eventually fully open and be better. I've had a couple of '06s in the last few weeks (besides the DRCs) that are finally starting to open (after being shut down hard for years).

    Cheers, Howard

    12/3/15, 11:37 PM - Yes, I agree with you.

My best 2006 at the moment is Rousseau's Clos de Beze. It performed very sexy and seductive. I think I will revisit again next year.
    Cheers...

12/4/15, 12:55 AM - Interesting. I had a 2007 Rousseau CdB at a tasting I took this year. For a 2007, it was pretty closed. I may have a look at a 2006 CdB next year. I am leading a tasting on 2006 Burgs next year and am interested to see how they are travelling.

    Cheers, Howard
