January 1, 2016 - Dark purple appearance. Clean fresh nose of pure, cassis fruit with some clove and medicinal, fennel character. Silky fruit and fine tannins. Very tight at present but should improve in a few years. Rightly or wrongly, I always compare this to the Ornellia 2nd wine of Le Serre Nuove and never think this comes of well in comparison given they are at a similar price point. For me, It's worth paying a little more for the Le Serre Nuove although this doesn't of course have to be an either / or.

1/1/16, 5:23 PM - Many thanks. I'd never noticed that before and a quick check of the stores where I buy in Japan and Singapore shows it is reflected here also. I shall edit my note and opinion to remind me.

1/12/16, 3:09 PM - I had this at a restaurant and really enjoyed it. Based on your comment, I went out and picked up a couple bottles of each and will try them together one night. Here in the US, there's a significant price difference, $40 compared to $60. It's also worth mentioning there's a fairly significant difference in the grape varietals used in both of these super Tuscan blends.

1/13/16, 6:30 AM - Thanks Bplant. In addition to the pricing differential, it's also a good reminder for me on the blend difference. More lazy comparison on my part! Stimulated by the discussion on this, I can sense a true tasting coming on of the 1st / 2nd / and 3rd wines (Le Difese / Le Volte) of each tasted blind. I'll have to do this when back in Japan though as the Singapore prices are crazy....
