Community Tasting Note

March 7, 2015 - Nose: Initial notes of bread, the nose is slightly muted but starts to open up with some air to rich notes of dark fruit.

Palate: Full bodied but not heavy, extremely smooth and fleshy, the mouthfeel is exquisite. Just enough of a tartness to provide bite with silky but structured tannins. There is a subtle amount of fruit that brings it all together.

Finish: Moderately sweet but not syrupy or excessive, smooth and dry with a good amount of acid that adds some excellent backbone. The dark fruit brings up the backend and really lingers, providing an excellent contrast to the astringency.

Thoughts: Nothing tells the story of this wine better than when I went to pour a glass for dinner (after popping the cork while cooking) and noticed over half the bottle was gone; it just drinks that easy. The nose might be a bit on the moderate side but the mouthfeel and overall palate more than makes up for it. While each element has it's time to shine, they all come together for an overall sense of balance. Damn fine wine, it's a shame cellar tracker doesn't have a "I love this wine" option...
