Community Tasting Note

February 3, 2016 - Flickinger Tasting at The Casino (Chicago, IL): From double-magnum. The nose is promising enough, with some very lovely black fruits and a touch of graphite, although the Margaux perfume seems to be missing. The palate is just awful though. Syrupy and sickly sweet, followed with an offensive bitter streak of oak, this belongs in the vanguard of all that is wrong with Bordeaux today: Angelus, Pavie, Domaine de Chevalier, Pape Clement, and friends.

2/3/16, 11:42 PM - A very dramatic score, seems very exaggerated which detracts credibility

2/4/16, 1:51 AM - I have seen your other tasting notes of the Flickinger Tasting. I'll hope your having a bit of an off day last Wednesday.

2/4/16, 7:24 AM - The dentition of Insanity: repeating the same negative yielding act over and over with expectation of positive results each time.

If you know its modern in style, then there you go! Why keep trying it in hopes of different results...

2/4/16, 7:26 AM - Im not a big fan of the 2005 vintage because I thought most wines were over ripe and lacked elegance, but opening a double-magnum on such a tannic vintage seems a bit early & unwise. Curious why the tasting would open such a large format?
Am hoping we see more restraint in the upcoming 2015 vintage.
