February 7, 2016 - Got to check in on two bottles at a dinner. Definitely got a lot better with time/higher temp. Mature wine but there should be much reward for the patient. Apples, toast, citrus, minerals. Still fresh, good acidity and feist in the mousse. Complexity showing but clearly more to come. Will leave my own bottles for 2020 onwards. 93-95

2/16/16, 5:52 AM - Did you get the lot code? I've found huge variation between bottles of different disgorgement. My 2013 bottle was quite mature but 2015 was very tight.

2/16/16, 1:13 PM - Unfortunately I did not, however I would be keen to know for my own bottles. What would be the code(s) to be looking for, please.

2/16/16, 1:34 PM - They're usually printed on the neck-foil. They're not very obvious but the first two digits refer to the year of disgorgement. The same system is used for NV Piper Heidsieck (same winemaker) and Bolly NV (completely different winemaker.) I've found a big difference between 2013 and 2015. I suspect the long time on the lees means that the wine evolves very quickly once disgorged.

2/16/16, 1:46 PM - Thanks. My bottles would all be 2015 disg then. I would very much think the ones that I had a week ago would be the same, as they were recently bought from the "same" shop (we have a governmental monopoly here) as myself and I bought mine around mid-June 2015. Cheers.
