March 27, 2016 - So disappointing. Frankly it drank like a bag of spanners. Disjointed and so acidic that the fruit was completely over shadowed. This bottle was bought on release from the winery and stored in ideal conditions, so not sure if it was flawed or.... Very poor QPR here.

3/28/16, 1:51 PM - I have heard this 'consult the aging chart' suggestion from another member here on CT when I rated another TC wine. Frankly, I think that it's a bit lame that TC is making wines that don't even merit a mediocre rating because they are made in a style that has such a specific and narrow drinking window. Any other wine claiming to be of this quality will be drinkable and enjoyable from release onward. None of the Chateau de Beaucastel, Saxum, Villa Creek, etc I have in my cellar is unenjoyable if I drink it outside the 'vintage chart'. Different yes: young, aged out, peaking, etc. If this wine is getting better, I would be quite surprised. I started collecting TC wines starting about 15 years ago, and have recently stopped for this reason. Too many bottles lately have been meh, or just not enjoyable - perfectly aged according to the winery or not. This is just my opinion, but I have over 50 bottles of TC wines in my cellar and I am looking at them now wondering what to do with them.

4/2/16, 11:44 AM - Interesting. I've recently had the standard 2009 Esprit and while not one of the best vintages, was a good Rhone-style blend. Now I'm concerned about the 2009 Panoplies that I have in my cellar.

I also notice that some other reviewers have downgraded this wine.

The only Panoplie that I've had is the 2007, and it was superb.

Thanks for the reply to my comment.

4/3/16, 1:05 PM - It's a bit disconcerting. I have drunk dozens of bottles of Panoplie and Esprit level TC wines over the years, and they have been ALL over the place. Some yummy, some like stewed prunes and some like this last one that was all over the place. I have several cases of these wines and am starting to wonder what I am sitting on. All of my TC wines were purchased on release and stored in ideal conditions - so I am pretty certain these variables are coming from the producer level.

4/3/16, 2:27 PM - I drink a lot of TC wines and I've never had that experience, which is odd considering that you made sure that your wines are stored properly.

Do you live on the east coast or somewhere far enough away that shipping could be an issue? I live near the winery, so shipping is always one day.

4/7/16, 1:27 PM - I live in Colorado, so shipping is two days. I also buy wine from other Paso wineries (as well as some in Washington and Oregon) with no problems, so I doubt that is the issue,

    4/7/16, 3:37 PM - I doubt that it's a problem, too. Odd.
