Community Tasting Note

  • Tim Heaton Likes this wine:

March 30, 2016 - Light-medium garnet, clear. Not much of a nose, limited to dusty blackberry, light strawberry, a touch of smoke. Tannins are really modest here and this is certainly an early drinker. A touch sappy on the palate with good acids, medium grip, but very modest length. A great, fair buy at less than $17, but more than that, it's an easy pass. Perfectly serviceable, early drinking Nebbiolo D'Alba. 13,5% abv. Not something I would purchase again (this bottle came from Carlino in Asti). I liked it for what it is, (simple but clean wine from a very challenging vintage). Thru 2018

    PnP, consistent over 3 days.

3/31/16, 3:32 AM - Ciao Makaroniara, for me it's not so easy to give this wine a score. It's rather a combination of scores. For instance, I'm really pleased by the quality of the wine in such a challenging vintage (add points), though it's pure and clean it lacks complexity (subtract points). It's a fair value at less than 15€ (add points), but the finish is short and the sense of place or variety leaves me wanting (subtract points). I guess somewhere between 84 and 87, but I'm pretty tough on scores, so take that into consideration. My thought is if you can buy this for less than 13€, you will be happy with your purchase. Ciao
